Snapchat Settles With FCC Over Privacy Issues

Snapchat has come to an agreement with the FTC over privacy issues, the company has entered into a consent decree with the FCC, which addresses issues with their app description, privacy policy and in app notifications.

The agreement comes after there was a massive privacy breach of around 4.6 million Snapchat users details, which included usernames and phone numbers.

Apple Buys Beats Audio For $3.2 Billion

Earlier today we heard a rumor that Apple was in talks to buy Beats Audio in a deal worth $3.2 billion, and whilst there is no official word from Apple as yet on the acquisition, Dr Dre has confirmed the deal on Instagram.

The confirmation came from Rappera dn Actor  Tyrese Gibson’s Instagram account, who posted a photo of himself and Dr Dre, with confirmation of the deal, you can see a quote from Tyrese below.

California Senate Passes Bill For Smartphone Kill Switch

Back in April we heard that a number of companies had committed to bring anti theft features to their smartphones, and now a bill has been passed by the California Senate, that will see a smartphone kill switch added to devices by 2015.

Last month, Samsung, Apple, Google, HTC, Nokia and Microsoft all agreed to make smartphones harder to steal, and now this technology will become law in California by July of next year.

Apple and Samsung recently finished their latest court case, but the two companies still work together, even though they have been through a number of court cases over the last two years, and according to a recent report, the top supplier of the Apple iPad display is Samsung.

According to research company Display Search, the top supplier of iPad display in the first quarter of 2014 was Samsung, and the company apparently supplied 62 percent of the 9.7 inch displays for the iPad Air.

GM has announced the pricing for its in car 4G LTE with AT&T, prices will start as little as $5 or $10 a month for their new 4G vehicles.

GM are launching thirty Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC cars this year that will all come with 4G LTE, and OnStar subscribers will get 200MB of data for $5 a month, non subscribers will get the same data for $10 a month.

Tumblr loses 7 million visitors since December

If you use Tumblr and have been following the news, you know that Marissa Mayer has been Yahoo’s CEO for almost two years and in that time she has been busy improving many of Yahoo’s websites and apps. Also, Yahoo bought Tumblr a little over a year ago for $1.1 billion.

It probably seemed like a good idea at the time. But now, this purchase isn’t looking so good. Things are not all rosy over at Tumblr. According to a ComScore report in the Wall Street Journal, traffic to Tumblr has dropped from a peak of 49 million visitors in December to only 42 million in March.

Uh, yeah, that is a stunning loss of users in a very short time. If these numbers are accurate, this loss of 7 million visitors is a 15% drop. The thing is, there isn’t any obvious reason for this decline. Since Yahoo bought it, Yahoo hasn’t done much to change Tumblr, wanting to stay true to its promise to not ruin Tumblr. Yahoo has tried to monetize Tumblr and has been struggling, so this is really bad news for the company.
